Virajbhakta Shrestha, the deputy leader of the parliamentary party of the National Independent Party, has objected that the bill to amend the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, 2073 was brought without sufficient discussion.
Speaking at the Finance Committee meeting held on Monday, Shrestha said that the bill to amend the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, 2073 was brought without sufficient discussion. He mentioned that the tendency to impose the treatment of all things on tax is affecting the daily consumer.
Shrestha said that gold is driving Nepal's economy and gold has a cultural and religious connection with housewives. He commented that 'the bill is like treating a stomach for a headache'.
Shrestha said, 'We pile everything in the treatment tax, which kills the daily consumer. When it comes to gold, no matter how you interpret it, it is recognized that gold, which is being saved informally by everyone from housewives, has given stability in one way or another. This time it seemed like it came without enough discussion. He did not treat his stomach because he had a headache. This is the norm with us, and we call it gray list and black list. On the surface, if you are cured by taking medicine, no matter how much tax is increased, but if it is a matter of black money, the system itself should be improved.'
Shrestha said that it is necessary to bring informal transactions under the scope of taxation. —News Agency Nepal
