National Independent Party MP Shiv Nepali has alleged that the network of human trafficking under the guise of a visit visa is operating within Nepal with the connivance of state patrons.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, the Nepali MP accused the state of protecting the active human trafficking racket. He commented that the government is constantly silent on heinous crimes like human trafficking, 'Is it a crime to raise the people's case?' asked. He remarked that human trafficking is not only a legal crime but also a serious insult to humanity and demanded the formation of an inquiry committee.
He said, 'Speaker, is it a crime to raise people's issues? Governments change, ministers change, but why are human traffickers always free? Heinous and international crime like human trafficking has been severely exposed today. Human smuggling in the name of visit visa is not only a crime, it is a grave insult to humanity. This racket seems to be operating under the protection of the state within Nepal. Why is the government of the two big parties silent on such a crime, Mr. Speaker? Does this government have any collusion with criminal gangs?'
The National Independent Party has been protesting in Parliament since June 13, demanding an investigation into the visit visa issue.
