The ruling Congress MP Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has demanded to withdraw the 'Take and Pay' provision introduced by the government through the budget.

Karki, who is also the former Finance Minister, Nepal  The Electricity Authority has requested to withdraw the provision of 'take and pay' which only pays for the amount of electricity purchased from the private sector. 

Participating in the discussion on the allocated budget at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, MP Karki said that it is necessary to study how the neighboring countries have accelerated development in a short period of time and how Nepal can learn from it and move forward. 

Karki said that it is necessary to continue the development and enthusiasm in the field of water resources in the country. He said that the trade deficit with India can be eliminated only by the promotion and development of the energy sector. Karki requested the finance minister to withdraw the provision of 'take and pay' from the budget.
