Cowsheds in Kushma Municipality-7 Khareha are unsafe and unorganized, so cows are killed and stolen. The cowshed in the middle of the forest is also at risk from wild animals.

After seeing the need to manage the stray cattle in Kushma market, the local residents of Khareha leased land and built a cow shed. The cowshed, which was put into operation in the year 2076, progressed well in the initial days. Gopal Paudel, a cowshed watcher, says, "No one is interested now. Killing and theft of cows has not stopped.'

He says that since there is a cowshed in the middle of the forest, he is afraid of tigers and people. Bhir's way to Gaushala should come in the morning and evening. Three cows were found slaughtered inside the cowshed. "Cows left in the morning do not return to the cow shed in the evening," he said. They are going there to slaughter cows and take meat.'

Even though he has been called to take cows from many places, he has stopped going because he is alone. He said, "How can I alone go far and bring a cow to the cowshed on such a steep road", he said, "Earlier the people of the committee used to help and bring it." Baburam Poudel, the chairman of the Gaushala Construction Committee, says that this is the only job now, they don't come.' A cowshed with a stage area has been constructed on 60 ropani land by paying an annual rent of 40,000 rupees. He admits that he did not pay enough attention while building a cowshed in the middle of the forest.

was built here as 'stage area'. Cows are not safe from humans and wild animals," he said. Even though the Kushma Municipality has been supporting one and a half lakh every year, it is not enough. The cost of the cow shed is about three lakhs annually, he said, it is not enough to pay Heralu's monthly salary, treatment expenses for cow diseases, land rent, etc. You have to go to the municipality and ask for it. Instead, it would be better if the budget was separated in the title.'

There are currently only 9 cows in the cowshed. The number of cows is decreasing. No one takes interest in transporting the four-footed animals seen in the market to the cowshed. ``When I saw the cows in the market, I saw that they had to leave the cow shed because they fell in love with it,'' said Princess Rana of Kushma. He said that there is a problem in allocating the funds of the ward to gaushalas as there is a fixed budget in the ward and it has to be distributed to many places. "I have been asking for money in the executive meeting for the cowshed", he says, "friends from other wards are accusing me of asking for more budget only in their own ward."

Ward Chairman Puri says that even though a cow shed has been established in his ward, cattle are brought there from all over the place. He says, "We had to bring cows from all over the world and put in a budget so that we could not only show them to my ward."

He says that the gaushala should be closed or it should be managed in an orderly manner. He promised to take initiatives for management by separating the titles this year as the City Assembly of Kushma Municipality is being held. "I will put it in the town hall. It is necessary for the Gaushala Construction Committee to be active', he said.
