Preparation meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the rescue of Nepalis in Israel and Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held a joint meeting with the officials of other concerned ministries to prepare the necessary action plan for the rescue of Nepali citizens in war-torn Israel and Iran.

Foreign Minister Arju Deuba Rana, Labor Employment and Social Security Minister Sharad Singh Bhandari, Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation and Home Ministry officials participated in the meeting. 

The meeting was focused on how to rescue those who want to return to Nepal. Foreign Minister Rana emphasized that the government should adopt all possible measures for the safety and rescue of Nepali citizens and for that, ministerial cooperation was emphasized. The situation of Nepalis in war-torn areas was discussed. Labor Minister Bhandari said that he is also in regular contact with Nepalis in Israel. Although various issues were discussed in the meeting, a concrete action plan for rescue could not be prepared. 

Ekaraj Pathak, press advisor of the foreign minister, said that the meeting discussed various aspects including the budget required for the rescue, the management of the airplane if it is able to be sent. Pathak said that there was a kind of preparatory meeting to complete the necessary preparations for the rescue. 

After the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for registration, 600 people registered themselves. All those registered there did not say that they should be rescued today and tomorrow. It has been found that some of them have such a desire,' he said, 'The relevant embassies have been instructed by the foreign minister to try to get them out by land.' Minister Rana said in the meeting that the Israeli government has also been requested to make proper arrangements for the safety of Nepali workers who have reached Israel and return them to Nepal through an agreement between the government and the government. 

A committee consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Labor and Tourism has been formed under the leadership of the Joint Secretary of Foreign Affairs to continuously observe the situation of Nepalis in war-torn areas. It is said that the said committee will work on it 24 hours a day. 

Similarly, officials of the Nepali Embassy in Israel and the Nepali Embassy in Qatar facing Iran have been asked to keep in close contact with the Nepali community and do 'real time reporting'. It is said that there are 5 to 7 thousand Nepalese in Israel and 17 in Iran.
