The Department of Water and Meteorology has requested the residents of Sindhupalchok's river areas to be alert as there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the coming few days.

The department issued a statement on Wednesday evening and asked the residents to be alert as they received information through the China Police Office that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the Bhotekoshi River catchment area in the Tibetan region of neighboring China from June 3rd to 7th.

Bhotekoshi and the surrounding areas of Sunkoshi River - Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Bahrbise Municipality, Tripurasundari Rural Municipality, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Balefi Rural Municipality and Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality - have been asked to be alert due to possible rains.

According to the current satellite and weather analysis, the influence of monsoon continues in those areas, but it is still weak and there is a possibility of light to moderate rain. However, keeping in mind the sudden changes in the weather and the potential risk of flooding, the department continues to monitor and update information will be published regularly.
