Bhandari, accused of misappropriating the savings of Miteri Cooperative, was brought to Kathmandu from Cambodia

Jyoti Bahadur Bhandari, the accused involved in misappropriating the funds of Miteri Savings and Loan Cooperative of Lalitpur, was brought to Kathmandu on Wednesday night in Cambodia.

Bhandari was brought from Cambodia to Kathmandu via Singapore through Singapore Airlines. Jyoti Gurung, the wife of Congress vice-chairman and former minister Dhanraj Gurung, was the general manager of Miteri Cooperative until a few years ago. While she was the general manager, she ran away after embezzling the savings of the cooperative. After Jyoti and another accused Jyoti Bahadur Bhandari absconded after misappropriating the money, both of them were included in the "red notice" by the police through "Interpol" and put them on the absconding list .

Only after they absconded did the savings fraud case of the cooperative come out. Initially, Jyoti Bahadur had traveled from Thailand to Cambodia via Cambodia, and it was the initial assumption of the police that he had reached Colombo in Sri Lanka. Miteri is a co-operative founded on the initiative of Lahures who retired from the British and Indian Army . The initial investigation of the police has concluded that Jyoti, who lives in Bardia, has embezzled the funds of the cooperative.

The police arrested Bhandari and brought him to Nepal through Interpol. For that, a team of Nepal Police under the command of SP had reached Cambodia.
