A high-level committee is needed to conduct a fair and transparent investigation of the visit visa issue: Gautam

National Independent Party MP Sobita Gautam has said that a high-level committee is needed to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the visit visa issue and the immigration problems at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Raswapa has continued the 'well' gherao since Friday in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday as well. In response to a question on the same issue, MP Gautam said that the government should be sensitive to the issues raised by the RSVP. "To solve the visit visa problem in the long term, we proposed to form a high-level investigation committee, conduct a transparent investigation, clarify the time limit and TOR. That proposal was not accepted by the ruling party,' she said. Our position is that a fair and transparent high-level committee is needed to resolve the issue.'

MP Gautam said that the government and Speaker Devraj Ghimire should play a role to end the obstruction of the Parliament. "In parliamentary practice, even a person speaks about something without understanding or stands up to speak, if he stands in opposition, it is not so useful to inform the House," she said. There is a situation where one party (RPPA) has boycotted. It is not so appropriate to adjourn the House than when the two parties stand up and do not express their views.'

Gautam also said that it is not correct that the speaker runs the house when a party opposes it and does not run it when someone opposes it. The Speaker is the guardian of the Parliament. It is not possible to say that the party is small and which is big, I accept the guardianship of the big party and not others. The question has also been raised in the House. We have also been raising issues,' she said, 'When the Speaker brought all the parties together and ran the House through negotiations, the voice of the people would also be heard.'

Gautam said that the two-point agreement with the main opposition Maoists will not resolve the visit visa issue. She said that based on the same agreement, the ruling party is not ready to negotiate with the RSVP and fulfill the demand. "It seems that a situation has been created in the House, which is not good," she said.

Gautam said that there is a tendency to take people abroad on visit visas from Nepal and go there to work on work visas and there is a suspicion that there is collusion between the state agencies for that, and therefore an investigation is necessary . She also said that RSVP did not demand that the investigation should be focused on individuals. He claimed that the investigation by the committee according to the agreement made with the main opposition party will not give any conclusion. "There is no room for complacency in the committee," she said.
