The Medicines, Health Services and Health Materials Concern Committee has suspended the ongoing agitation for 15 days in keeping with their various demands.

Prakash Kumar Khandelwal, President of Nepal Pharmacists Association informed that the protest was suspended after Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel promised to find a solution after discussing the demands of the committee. Minister Paudel and representatives of 12 organizations in the health sector had a discussion at the ministry on Sunday.  During the

discussion, Minister Poudel said Dr. He said that the report of the Drug Price-Policy Suggestion Committee formed under the chairmanship of Poshraj Pandey will be completed only after further discussion and consultation with the concerned organizations. The

committee has given an ultimatum to start the related process within 15 days. Khandelwal said that if the report is implemented, it will directly affect the consumers and the supply of medicine may be affected.

After the publication of the report of the Drug Price-Policy Suggestion Committee, major organizations in the field of medicine, health services and health materials started protesting against it. They termed the report as an anti-consumer and anti-professional, unilateral and monopolistic document and protested at the offices of the Drug Administration Department in various parts of the country including Kathmandu on Friday.
