Muglin-Pokhara road: The work on the eastern section has been completed

The work on the eastern section (Ambukhaireni-Jamune) has been completed except for the seven km adjacent to the Marsyangdi hydroelectric power house in the 90 km road under the Prithviraj highway from Muglin to Pokhara. The 41.45 km road of this section was completed at the end of May.

Out of all 18 bridges in the eastern section, 17 have been completed. Damauli's Madi Khola bridge is under construction. The contract for Madi Bridge was signed on August 11, 2022 for one billion and 21 million rupees to be completed by September 2025. Chudaraj Dhakal, the head of the Road Project Directorate, said that the painting work of the completed bridge is underway.

The work of widening the seven km road leading from Marsyangdi Hydropower House to Muglin has not been done yet. Due to the power plant, there is a plan of the road department to cut the Marsyangdi river and take it to Muglin via Gorkha. There is no tender for the construction of this road.

According to Vishnu Pandey, the information officer of the eastern section of the Prithviraj Highway, according to the target to be built by the end of May, the road work has been completed except for one bridge in this section . The deadline for completing the work of this road section has been extended three times. The road construction work has been completed for the third time after the deadline has been extended.

Even though all the construction works of the main road have been completed, the 200 meter service lane of Damauli and Dumre Bazar in this section is under construction. Information officer Pandey said that if the rain stops, the construction work of 200 meters will be completed in a week. In this road section, 6 lanes of Dumre and Damauli Bazar and 4 lanes of the highway have been constructed.

As the traffic on the Prithvi Highway, which is planned for 2026, is increasing, the existing 2-lane road is going to be expanded to four lanes with the loan support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

According to Pandey, the road construction of the eastern section has been completed at a cost of 6.21 billion.
