Former Finance Minister and Maoist Deputy General Secretary Varshman Pun has commented that the government's budget for the next financial year is weak.
During the 'general discussion on the annual estimate of revenue and expenditure for the financial year 2082/083' at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, Pun said that the weak budget of the strong government has come.
Pun said that even though the government has a majority of about two-thirds of the parliament, it has not worked hard in budgeting. He said that the budget of the government, which was formed with the commitment to amend the constitution, political stability, tightening service delivery and reforming the economy, is weak.
'The current government is the first largest party, the second largest party and mathematically about two-thirds of the parliament . When two-thirds of the government was being formed, they had promised that we would amend the constitution, make political stability, go hard on service delivery and make some improvements in the economy,' Pun said, 'looking at this budget, it has come as a weak budget of a strong government . The government is strong, the budget is weak.'
He accused the finance minister of not working hard on the budget. He said that even the two big parties have not done as much effort as they should. "By focusing the agenda on topics with slogans, by packaging the budget, by branding, it should have been focused from where," he said .
Pun said that the budget for the next fiscal year is seen as a budget made regularly by the administrative level and not by the political leadership.
