Due to insecurity and lockdown, officials of the University could not go to the office

Officials of Tribhuvan University have not gone to office for two weeks due to insecurity and lockdown. On May 14, the president, secretary and other elected members of the Union University vandalized the vice-chancellor's office and locked the office in various campuses. The rector and registrar offices have also been locked.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Khadg KC, Rector Duvinand Dhakal and Registrar Kedar Rizal have not been able to go to the office due to vandalism and lockdown.

Since the main door of the Vice-Chancellor's office is locked, the employees use another door to enter. "Vandals and lockpickers are roaming around here," said an employee of the registrar's office, adding, "There is no security." Officials have not come after the office was locked.

Due to the office being locked, the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar have been doing administrative work at the Institute of Engineering Studies in Pulchok. Executive council and other meetings are also held there. Rector Dhakal is also in charge of the dean of the Faculty of Humanities, so he sits in the dean's office and does daily work. "We will go with the necessary documents, even if the office does not come, the work has not been interrupted," said the employee of the Vice-Chancellor's office. Acting Vice-Chancellor KC said that he could not go to the office to work due to the lockdown.

Two weeks ago, a group of 15/20 people belonging to Swaviyu vandalized the Vice-Chancellor's office and locked the officials' office, demanding to open the admissions of the graduate level, which was closed according to the academic calendar. Registrar Rizal's chair was thrown out of the working room by the union workers. The police arrested Dikpal Karki and Lokesh Kunwar, who were involved in the vandalism, on Tuesday. Apilraj Bohra, spokesperson of Kathmandu Police Complex

Karki was arrested from Sanothimi in Bhaktapur and the investigation was started. Karki Sanothimi is the secretary of the campus, while Kunwar is a student of Sankardev. Bohra said, "There was a complaint of vandalism by a group, we caught them from Bhaktapur and brought them back." Now the process of the case will proceed by extending the deadline.'

Even though vandalism has been happening repeatedly in universities and campuses by students, the culprits have been getting immunity due to political patronage. This time, the Executive Council of Tertiary University filed a complaint in Kirtipur Police Circle to take action against those who vandalized public property

. But the Circle had written to the University saying that Kitani Jaheri was necessary. The home administration was criticized for not taking action because students of the ruling party were involved in vandalism.

In the presence of the police, a group including Sankardev, Saraswati, Public Youth, Sanothimi and the president and secretary of the campus vandalized the campus. The CCTV footage of the incident has also been released. Those involved in the vandalism had posted a statement with signatures and locked it. The Kirtipur police had been backing away from investigation and action saying that the culprits could not be identified due to lack of complaint. Police inspector Dharmendra Akaulia wrote to the university on 20th June to disclose the name, surname and nationality.

According to Trivi, the Sankardev campus wells were involved in the vandalism along with Swaviyu Secretary Madanraj Upadhyay, Joint Secretary Bhuvan Ojha, Gajendra Bam, Savin Bhatt, Sonu Sah, Kishore Thapa and Bhojraj. Similarly, Public Youth Campus SWIU President Santosh Shrestha, Saraswati Campus SWIU President Muskanraj Gautam, Bhaktapur Campus SWIU President Pukar Parajuli were involved in vandalism. Other than Parajuli, he is an elected official in the Swaviyu election held in 2079.

Murari Gautam, President of Kailashkut Multipurpose Campus, Rajesh Timilsina along with Karki of Sanothimi Campus, Anshu Phuyal of Kantipur College, Rohit Parajuli of Kavre Multipurpose Campus are also involved in vandalizing the Vice Chancellor's office.

They have also taken responsibility for the vandalism by posting a video on Facebook. The group claimed that the police used force to meet the vice-chancellor. Even last February, a group of students vandalized the rector's office, but no action was taken due to the neglect of the home administration.
