Joint General Minister of Nepali Congress and Member of the House of Representatives Jeevan Pariyar has said that caste discrimination and untouchable behavior in the society is still a matter of shame for Nepal among the world community. He alleged that due to discriminatory thinking, the government has not taken interest in the implementation of laws for the rights of the Dalit community in accordance with the fundamental rights provisions of the constitution.

Speaking at a program organized by the National Dalit Commission on the 19th Caste Discrimination and Abolition of Untouchability Day on Wednesday, Joint Chief Minister Pariyar said that despite the passage of a decade since the implementation of the Constitution, no law has been made to implement the provisions of Article 40.

He said that parliamentarians of the Dalit community in Parliament are taking initiatives for the creation of laws, but the government is not interested.

'In the past, the state made caste discrimination and untouchability by making laws. No one can hide that now,' he said, 'At one time, the state should be ready to apologize after legally discriminating.'

Joint Chief Minister Pariyar expressed anger that the government has not made any provision for the rights of the Dalit community through policies and programs and budget.

He said that caste discrimination and untouchability cannot be eradicated only by the paper declaration of the government.
