Inspector General of Armed Police Raju Aryal has said that the role of community level volunteers and indicators is very important in disaster risk reduction. He said this while speaking at the 'Eighth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction' held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Inspector General Aryal stated that the Armed Police Force is working with a long-term priority in disaster management, and said, 'The early information, mobilization, rescue and relief work of disasters is effective through the network of disaster volunteers and disaster indicators.'

He said that the Armed Police Force Nepal's Disaster Management Training School and Mountain Rescue Training School have been established and are producing skilled manpower by conducting high-level training related to disaster management.

Since Nepal is at the forefront of natural disasters, it is committed to face these kinds of challenges and reduce disaster risk, he said, 'It is not possible to deal with disasters by efforts alone. It should be a collective effort of the world community and inter-agency coordination.'
