Resignation of the Home Minister and the formation of an inquiry committee on the visit visa issue is impossible: Chief Whip Bertaula

Mahesh Bertaula, the chief whip of the UML, which is leading the government, has said that the demands for the resignation of the Home Minister and the formation of an inquiry committee put forward by the opposition parties regarding the visit visa issue cannot be fulfilled under any circumstances.

After the meeting of the House of Representatives was adjourned on Wednesday, Chief Whip Bertaula said that he would answer the questions raised publicly by the Home Minister in Parliament, but the resignation and investigation committee could not be formed. He also accused the opposition party of allowing the Home Minister to speak in Parliament.

Bertaula said that no investigation committee will be formed until the investigation report on the visit visa case is published by the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission. "Until the report of the inquiry conducted by the Constitutional Commission comes, no committee will be formed." He has repeatedly said that if someone asked a question about the Home Minister in public, he would answer it from the Parliament. The opposition is not giving that opportunity,' he said, 'there is no question of resignation of the home minister. Now there is no such thing as a committee being formed as he said . They should step back from their demands and play a role in clearing the stalemate in Parliament.'

After the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission started investigating the employees including Home Ministry Joint Secretary Tirtha Bhattarai in the case of extortion of money from people going abroad on visit visas through Tribhuvan International Airport, the opposition party has been blocking the Parliament meeting, demanding that Home Minister Akbar should resign on moral grounds.
