Narayankaji Shrestha, senior vice president of Maoist and leader of the party in the National Assembly, has said that the budget for the next financial year should come as a political, economic and financial document, but it has come only as an administrative and financial document.
Participating in the discussion on the budget in the meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, MP Shrestha said that there is a need for a budget to take a leap in prosperity with social justice, but the budget brought by the government for the next fiscal year does not have that. He said that the
budget did not pay attention to the possibility of cutting general expenses from the angle of frugality and addressing the challenge of increasing the capacity of capital expenditure implementation. "The main task of the nation is to take a leap in prosperity with social justice, and the budget could not be addressed," he said, "it does not seem to pay attention to what are the new possibilities". Economists have admitted that 40 percent of the revenue collected is leaked. Similarly, there are many possibilities to cut general expenses from the angle of thrift. A number of challenges will have to be addressed in enhancing the capacity to implement capital expenditure . No attention has been paid to that direction, so it has become a status quo, ad hoc and administrative budget.'
Shrestha also said that the budget could not bring plans and programs according to the wishes of the people. He said that after the political changes of epoch-making importance in the country, social and economic transformations were demanded, but despite the demand for rapid development and prosperity, the budget did not bring such plans. It has been demanded to give a new life to the Nepalese by giving delivery. It is not that we have not done positive work in that direction, we have done . However, due to the fact that it has not met the needs of the Nepali society as expected, there is dissatisfaction among the people, it has expressed anger at one level and also caused disappointment,' he said, 'based on that, the regressive forces, the revivalist monarchist forces are now holding the cross . are starting to be active . Today's budget should be able to address it from a political angle as well. The sure weapon to end the threat of today's regression can be no other than good governance, prosperity and social justice.' Shrestha also said that the
budget was not as realistic, practical as it was discussed in public, and could not maintain balance.
