Young Communist League (YCL), the fraternal organization of the Maoists, is going to be transformed into a 'Jujharu Dasta'. A consensus has been reached in the National Conference to form a structure and move forward as soon as the Maoists come to the peace process.
The representative who spoke at the conference that continued from Monday said that YCL will be transformed into a militant squad. Maoist central member and YCL in-charge Ramprasad Sapkota said that after the peace process, there was a vote to return YCL to its old mode of operation.
"The vote has come to change the organization like the one after the peace process, to the same speed as today," he said, "Now YCL will stand up in favor of federalism and the republic."
In the ongoing closed session at Pragya Institute in Kathmandu, the group leaders said that YCL was like a quiet pond in the past, and they thought of making it militant in nature . While inaugurating the
conference, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said, "Let's go". He instructed to proceed aggressively. Even after the Maoist came to the peace process, there was a 'dhangdhangi' of YCL all over the country . In Kathmandu, businessmen, political workers of other parties, people doing hooliganism, thakedars were taken under control and took voluntary action. At that time there was opposition to the activities of YCL .
The Congress UML protested saying that the YCL workers who were camped in different places of Kathmandu were running a separate 'state'. After the Maoists led the government, the YCL gradually started building a peaceful organization.
