The police have taken action against 90 people who charged more fares from passengers by covering up the chance of not driving through various ride sharing apps. Nepal Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa informed that 90 people have been prosecuted for bargaining offline and charging more than indicated fees.
They were also punished according to traffic rules. The traffic police also requested the passengers to inform the nearest traffic police office or the free helpline number 103 of the traffic police while asking them to be careful of such activities of the riders who serve the passengers in a way that annoys them.
After the government of Gandaki province introduced the regulation on ride sharing, the public transport businessmen stopped the public transport in the whole country today in protest against it.
After the public transport was stopped due to the transport business, the Nepal Police brought two buses into operation in Kathmandu and the police assisted in the operation by providing security to the common transport. Similarly, according to Thapa, some public transport from Gandaki province was helped to reach the destination by skirting the police.
