The government has issued a circular to municipalities across the country to prepare for monsoon disasters by implementing the National Action Plan for Monsoon Preparedness and Response 2082 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration issued a circular to all the metropolitan cities, sub-metropolitan cities, municipalities and rural villages, along with the copy of the National Action Plan, 2082 approved by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee. , said that due to the forecast of heavy rains in this year's monsoon, a circular has been issued to implement and carry out monsoon preparedness and countermeasures related to the issues that fall under the responsibility of the local level in the action plan for mitigation of monsoon-related disasters. Khatri mentioned that the local level has been asked to formulate and implement a municipal level monsoon preparedness and response plan and to inform the ministry about it, to make the local community aware of the monsoon disaster and to conduct an awareness program to increase public awareness.  In the

circular, it is also asked to keep the city police in readiness with the necessary resources and to mobilize the volunteers in the municipality for the management and response of the search, rescue and relief materials required during the monsoon disaster. 

Similarly, it has been requested to cooperate and coordinate with governmental, non-governmental, private and humanitarian organizations, local communities and volunteers for preparedness and response and to clean the sewers of cities and settlements before the monsoon, remove the garbage accumulated in the river and open the water drains. 

It is also said to activate the local emergency operation center for effective monsoon response and to establish a monsoon response 'command post' at the municipal level for effective operation, development of monsoon warning system and to be active in controlling black market, artificial scarcity and criminal incidents during monsoon.
