Don't just keep the car in the garage, don't give the key to the government: Sitaula

Saroj Sitaula, the senior vice president of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Professionals, has warned that there should be no situation where cars are parked in garages and handed over the keys to the government.

Speaking to Kantipur, Sitaula, who is also the coordinator of the Central Movement to Save Public Transport, warned that the government may have to hand over the keys to the means of transport when demanding professional interests.

'We have reached a decision to hold a protest at the vehicle house-garage . We have 4 lakh vehicles across the country . which will not go on the streets until our demands are met,' he said, 'if the government does not listen to the agitation for our professional interests, then the time may come to hand over the key to the government.'

After the Gandaki state government brought 'ride sharing' regulations against the constitution, the transport businessmen are protesting with 7 points of demand . If the demand is not met, they have said that they will protest indefinitely by stopping the vehicle in the garage from Monday.

Senior Vice President Sitaula said that despite drawing the attention of the government several times, he was forced to go on a protest because the demand was not heard. We don't want passengers to suffer. But as the state did not listen to our demand, we have announced the closure of transport as the last option, we have started this movement to save our profession/business,' he said, 'the government can still address our demand by calling for talks.'

Gandaki province government made arrangements to carry people in private vehicles with red number plates as in public vehicles with black number plates, he says that their movement started. He said that the regulation 2082 section 2 (h) of the regulation 2082 brought by the government of Gandaki Province to operate private vehicles (red plates) published in the gazette on June 1 should be immediately repealed, the order of the Supreme Court on the renewal of assets of the association committee in the Association Registration Act 2034 should be implemented, while the Vehicle Act 2049 is in the process of being amended, the agreements reached with the Nepal government on various dates with the Federation of Transport Businessmen and the Labor Union and the recommendations of various working groups formed by the government should be implemented. He said that there is a demand from transport businessmen, including that it should be implemented as soon as possible.
