The alternative roads constructed under East-West Mahendra Highway in Chormara, Dumkibas and Daunne have been swept away by the flood, traffic has come to a standstill.

According to District Police Chief Yadav Dhakal, the traffic has come to a standstill due to Thursday night's rain, which washed away the diversions of Chormara, Dumkibas and Downe roads under Mahendra Highway. He said that the work of construction of alternative road in those places has started from Friday morning.

- 5 km east from Bardghat Bazar in Khursani River, the alternative road constructed 5 days ago was washed away by the flood and traffic on the highway has been stopped. A pick-up van carrying vegetables was also swept away by the flood. According to Sai Tirtha Bhusal of the traffic police stationed in the

field, traffic on the highway has been stopped since 2:30 in the morning. Although work is being done to open the highway, it has been difficult due to overnight rain.

Bhusal informed that the pick-up van carrying vegetables numbered Lu 3 Ch 8493 was swept away by the flood. According to Bhusal, there was no human loss.

Similarly, the temporary road constructed after the iron bridge of Choramara under the Mahendra highway was washed away. On the other hand, thousands of passengers are stranded on the highway due to the collapse of the Binayi Khola Bridge at Dumkibas.

Downing and surrounding areas were pelted with light rain overnight on Thursday .

Hundreds of vehicles passing east-west through Mahendra Highway have stopped at Chormara and Bardghat.
