According to the recommendations of the Economic Reforms Commission, the government has increased the age of receiving old-age allowance to 70 years.
In 1979, the government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba reduced the age of receiving old age allowance to 68 years. Due to this, the registration department has been telling the government that the annual liability of 20 billion rupees has been increased.
The cabinet meeting held on May 6 approved an action plan to maintain the age of receiving old-age allowance at 70 years within the next 1 year .
