84-year-old Srinarayan Singh of Yamunamai-4 Saruatha village in Rautahat said that he was shocked by the incident on Wednesday, when four people, including former minister and Nepali Congress leader Mohammad Aftab Alam, were acquitted by the Virganj bench of Janakpur High Court on Wednesday, who were accused of murdering the injured by throwing them alive in a brick kiln on the night before the first Constituent Assembly election in Rautahat.
His son Trilok Pratap Singh and neighbor Ruksana Khatun's son OC Akhtar were killed in the blast. Alam was accused of throwing both of them alive into the chimney furnace.
The bench of Judges Khushi Prasad Tharu and Arjun Maharjan in Virganj, Janakpur, acquitted Aftab Alam, his brother Mehtab Alam, Sheikh Seraj (Saraj) and Badri Sahani. Even though the district court gave justice, Singh informed Kantipur via telephone that he was shocked by the decision of the high court. The notice of the said order was given to Singh through Alam's counsel Pushparaj Paudel.
'Now I will go to knock on the door of the Supreme Court', Singh responded after hearing the news, 'Justice has been served there. Even though the district gave justice, the higher authorities did not give me justice.'' His voice was interrupted for some time when he said that this was the attitude of the big leaders of the country. When the case with Alam was going on in the Birganj High Court, Singh used to go to the bench several times by himself. He said that this time he could not go due to fatigue due to his age. Singh is currently resting at home.
After the High Court's verdict, he said that he felt insecure and requested that security arrangements be made. After the district court gave an order to keep him in custody, the district police appointed a security guard. After almost three years, the district police removed the bodyguard a year ago. He is now mentally disturbed.
On the eve of the first Constituent Assembly election in the year 2064, Singh and Akhtar, who were injured when a bomb exploded in the shed of Sheikh Idris in the then Rajpur gavis-4 Farhadwa of Rautahat, were accused of throwing alive into the brick kiln along with Alam. Srinarayan Singh had been going to court for more than 17 years demanding punishment along with Aftab Alam for killing his 22-year-old son Trilok alive in a brick kiln. During that time, he also sold three bighas of land to meet the expenses.
After the Rautahat district court sentenced Alam to life imprisonment, he believed that justice is not dead, but the decision of the high court has made Sreenarayan sad. Trilok Singh was the youngest son of the family. The eldest son Satyendra Pratap Singh is currently involved in the care of his father.
Trilok, who was studying B.Sc. second year at Goenka College in Sitamarhi, India, was blasted when he came home on 17th Chait 2064. On the night before the first Constituent Assembly election, ie on 27th of Chait, Trilok, who was injured in an explosion in Rajpur Farhadwa, was given an anesthetic injection and thrown alive into a chimney furnace. Shri Narayan Singh, demanding action against 11 people including former minister Alam, his brother Mahtab, went to court in Kathmandu and Gaur. 12 years after the
incident, on 11 October 2076, the then District Police Chief SP (currently SSP) Bhupendra Bahadur Khatri arrested Alam, and the investigation started only.
The Rautahat District Court had sentenced four people including Alam to life imprisonment on 13 Baisakh 2081. But after being acquitted by the High Court, Aftab Alam and his brother Mehtab Gaur were released from Nakhkhu Jail in Lalitpur and returned home on Wednesday. Alam is currently in Kathmandu. According to family sources, preparations are being made for treatment as his health condition is not good. Currently under the supervision of his father, the youngest son and the head of Rajpur municipality Dr. Rajik Alam is deployed.
The Birganj High Court stated that the evidence of the place where the bomb exploded on 27th Chait 2064 could not be confirmed, that OC Akhtar and Trilok Pratap Singh, who were injured in the explosion, were put in a tractor and taken to the nearby Raja brick kiln and burned, and that the prosecution that the deceased were burnt in the brick kiln could not be confirmed from the test report of the forensic science laboratory.
