Yuva Sangh Convention: Voting begins after no unanimous vote

Voting has started to elect a new committee from the 10th convention of National Youth Union of Nepal, which is close to UML. Voting started at 10 am on Tuesday morning in Pokhara Hall after 3 days of efforts to reach consensus failed.

Election Officer Jai Gurung informed that 42 voting machines were used in 9 centers for voting. Separate polling stations have been used for the representatives selected from the organizing committee, seven provinces and inter-district special provinces. The time for voting is fixed till 3 pm. Electoral Officer Gurung said that if the representatives sitting in the queue do not cast their vote within the stipulated time, the time will be extended.

Party President and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli instructed the leaders on Monday to hold a vote after the unanimous effort failed.

Both candidates for the presidency have formed a panel of members. From Thebe panel, Maharaj Gurung and Vinay Shah are candidates for vice president, Mahesh Chaulagain for general secretary, Upendra Shahi for deputy general secretary, Madan Bhandari and Dev Bahadur Basnet for secretary, Nisha Limbu Subba for women secretary, Mobin Akhtar Alam for Madhesi secretary. Mohammad Nizamuddin (Nizam) is the candidate for the Disciplinary Commission Chairman, Madan Giri for the Election Commission Chairman, Krishna Dutt Jaisi for the Accounts Commission Chairman, China La for the Youth Expert Council.

Prakash Gautam and Parbat Bhandari are candidates for vice president from Puri panel, Kuber Adhikari for general secretary, Khemraj Sharma for deputy general secretary, Arun Kunwar and Dhruv Khadka for secretaries, Reshu Tamang for women's secretary, Chitaranjan Yadav for Madhesi secretary. Ajayjung Shahi as the chairman of the Disciplinary Commission, Shiv Rimal as the chairman of the Election Commission, Vikram Gurung as the chairman of the Accounts Commission, and Modnath Silwal (Santosh) as the chairman of the Youth Expert Commission have nominated from the Puri panel.

Vakil Bahadur Bam in secretary Khulla, Minakumari Rai (Ranju), Vikas Jha in secretary Madhesi, Rozina Pandey (Uma) in secretary women have submitted their candidatures outside both the panels. There are 1,764 delegates from all over the country for the

convention. 62 people have been elected unopposed with Amit Karki as the Vice-Chairman of the Accounts Commission, Lokesh Pal as the Secretary and 62 members who are elected by geography. A committee of 163 people will be elected from the convention by officers and members, commission officers and members.
