Youth Union Convention: Oli ready to conduct elections, vote on Tuesday

UML President and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is ready to decide the National Youth Union of Nepal through new committee elections. Oli gave a message to the leaders to hold elections on Monday evening after the efforts to hold a unanimous vote failed for 3 consecutive days.

Oli wanted Kshitij Thebe to be the president again. After the current General Secretary Suman Puri did not give up his claim, the new committee will be decided by voting.

Having been vice president twice and general secretary once, he maintained his stance that he should be the president on Monday as well. After this, in consultation with the chairmanship, the election committee has published a notification that voting will start from 8 am on Tuesday. 

Leaders were in a state of mind to announce Thebe as the president, officials and members as well. The leaders in Pokhara had informed Oli that the atmosphere was good on Puri's side as well, and that there was a possibility of an encounter going to Peler.

There is a presiding committee consisting of Rajiv Pahari, former presidents Mahesh Basnet, Nirudevi Pal and Kiran Paudel, under the leadership of Bhanubhakta Dhakal, a member of the party standing committee and head of the public organization system.

Both candidates for the presidency have already prepared a panel of members to participate in the election. From Thebe panel, Maharaj Gurung and Vinay Shah are candidates for vice president, Mahesh Choulagain for general secretary, Upendra Shahi for deputy general secretary, Madan Bhandari and Dev Bahadur Basnet for secretary, Nisha Limbu Subba for women secretary, Mobin Akhtar Alam for Madhesi secretary. Mohammad Nizamuddin (Nizam) is the candidate for Disciplinary Commission Chairman, Madan Giri for Election Commission Chairman, Krishna Dutt Jaisi for Accounts Commission Chairman, China La is the candidate for Youth Expert Council. 

Puri panel candidates are Prakash Gautam and Parbat Bhandari for vice-president, Kuber Adhikari for general secretary, Khemraj Sharma for deputy general secretary, Arun Kunwar and Dhruv Khadka for secretaries, Reshu Tamang for women's secretary, Chitaranjan Yadav for Madhesi secretary. Ajayjung Shahi as the chairman of the Disciplinary Commission, Shiv Rimal as the chairman of the Election Commission, Vikram Gurung as the chairman of the Accounts Commission, and Modnath Silwal (Santosh) as the chairman of the Young Experts Commission have nominated from the Puri panel. 

Vakil Bahadur Bam in Khula, Minakumari Rai (Ranju), Vikas Jha in Madhesi, Rozina Pandey (Uma) in Secretary Women have submitted their candidatures outside both the panels. 

Rajeev Pahari, in-charge of Yuva Sangh, claimed that there would be a unanimous decision throughout the night. He said that even if one party is ready to reach a consensus even after the election process, a new leadership will be announced based on consensus. He claimed that there was an issue that the party president had given an order to hold an election. What the party president said now is true. "He had said that in the inaugural session, he would adopt a unanimous or democratic method," he said.   45 voting machines will be used in

voting. There are 1,764 delegates from all over the country for the convention.
