Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has said that Nepal is supplying electricity as per requirement. On Sunday evening, Minister Khadka said this while talking to the media after receiving information about the power supply problems, consumer complaints and possible technical difficulties at various locations under the No Light branch in Kuleshwar.

He said that the power outage is not due to lack of electricity, but due to a disaster, the government is working as per the objective to ensure that the consumers can get safe and reliable electricity.

By artificially spreading rumours, he has asked to be aware of the fact that there is no light. Claiming that Nepal does not have to import electricity and that its own electricity is available in sufficient quantity, Minister Khadka said that electricity is being supplied more effectively than in the past.

He said, 'The fact that the lights are going out is not due to lack of electricity. Our wish is that consumers can get safe and reliable electricity. The problem seen now is when there is a disruption due to natural causes like wind and lightning. Such incidents have happened in previous years as well. May be tomorrow. Efforts are being made to bring that situation into operation as soon as possible. There seems to be a tendency to artificially spread rumours, but it is not true. Now we have not imported electricity. We are able to supply electricity as per requirement. Consumers and countrymen are urged to supply better today than yesterday. Don't follow the hype.'

Minister Khadka warned that those who spread terror by saying 'lights have gone out' will be brought to justice even if the electricity is not broken . As there are calls coming from the No Light Branch saying that electricity is not being supplied, and on cross checking it is found that electricity is being supplied, it has been requested to note down the numbers of such callers and give them to the police.

He said, 'Many fake calls are still coming. There is provision for 24-hour telephone pick-up and provision of power supply in areas of power outage. Some consumers have informed where the light has gone, while some have informed that the light has come. On cross checking it is found that power is being supplied. Please do not spread rumors for any reason. Note down such telephone numbers and give them to the police. Action will be taken against those involved in spreading rumors and creating terror.'
