41 executive members of Kathmandu Metropolitan City have demanded Mayor Balendra Shah to call an executive meeting as soon as possible. The informal meeting held today made such a demand.

In the 42-member executive, everyone except Mayor Sah was present. Congress, UML, Maoists, United Socialists and National Independent Party are represented in the executive.

Sub-section 1 of section 17 of the Local Government Operation Act 2074 states that 'the meeting of the executive committee shall be held at least once a month', but the meeting of the executive committee of the metropolitan city has not been held since January . The work, duties and rights of the chief also include calling meetings of the assembly and the executive and presiding over the meetings.

"Since the executive meeting, which should be held at least once a month, has not been held for about 6 months, the development and policy decisions to be made within the metropolitan city are also getting confused," spokesperson Naveen Manandhar said, "There is a legal obligation for the local level to bring the budget by June 15." However, since the executive committee meeting has not been held for a long time, the metropolis has not been able to discuss the priorities of the budget for the financial year 2082/083 in the executive committee.

He said that the mayor was upset when the meeting was not called and there was confusion about whether or not the budget for the next fiscal year would come.
