Three people died when a jeep fell from the Madi river bridge connecting Ward No. 3 and 4 of Byas Municipality of Tanahun under the Prithviraj Highway at around 11:30 pm on Saturday night.
According to the district police, the jeep No. G2CH 5760, which was going from Damauli to Chapaghat, broke the railing of the bridge and fell into the Madi river.
According to District Police Inspector Raju Adhikari, five people were riding in the jeep. Two others were injured in the accident. After first treatment of the injured at Damauli Hospital, one person has been referred to Pokhara for further treatment.
One of the injured is serious, while the condition of the driver is normal.
The deceased are 35-year-old Pravin Thapamgar of Vyas-5, 22-year-old Kumar Thapa and 20-year-old Kushal Thapa of the same place, the police said. They died in Damauli Hospital.
The injured in the accident were rescued by Kalibhanjan Gana (E) of Nepali Army, Nepal Police and locals.
The District Police Office has informed that further investigation is underway regarding the incident.
