Japan visit successful: Foreign Minister Rana

Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has said that her recent five-day visit to Japan was successful.

After returning home on Saturday night after completing her visit to Japan, she informed that during her visit, she held various important meetings with the foreign minister of Japan and discussed Nepal-Japan cooperation and various projects, and informed that those meetings were successful for the country.   

Minister Rana said,  'During this visit, there was a discussion about various topics of Nepal-Japan relations as well as Japan's cooperation and projects in Nepal. Similarly, in the conference, we got a chance to learn about the policies adopted by other countries regarding senior citizens, their conditions and arrangements.'  

A bilateral meeting was held between Foreign Minister Rana and Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takesi in Tokyo on May 8. On the occasion of that meeting, she informed that Nepal-Japan bilateral relations, mutual interests and various issues of common interest were discussed.  

Similarly, Minister Rana on June 9th, President of Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA. Tanaka also had a meeting with Akihiko. In that meeting, Minister Rana expressed her gratitude for the support that the Japanese government has been providing through JICA for a long time in Nepal's economic and social sectors and talked about the projects that have been implemented and completed in Nepal with the help of JICA. 

Earlier, Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Akiko Ikuina also had a courtesy meeting with him. Minister Rana thanked Deputy Foreign Minister Akiko who participated in the Everest Dialogue held in Nepal last week.

During her stay in Japan, Minister Rana participated in an international conference on senior citizens held in Tokyo and gave a speech on behalf of Nepal. Minister Rana, who returned to the country on Saturday night after completing her visit to Japan, was welcomed by officials including Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amrit Bahadur Rai at the Tribhuvan International Airport. She went to Japan last Monday.
