In the past 10 months, nearly 4,000 protest programs have been held across the country. The police headquarters released such data at a press conference on Friday.
Central Police Spokesperson DIG Ramesh Thapa informed that in the past 10 months, there have been 3,963 protest and demonstration programs including 12 strikes, 12 road jams, 816 lockouts, 782 sit-ins, 134 hunger strikes, 118 road blocks and 2,089 protest rallies.
According to him, 76 vehicles were set on fire and 31 vehicles were vandalized during the demonstration. During the protests and demonstrations, an estimated loss of Rs 50,2653,252 has been incurred in terms of physical infrastructure of Rs 40,750,11,887 and vandalism and arson of vehicles and Rs 95,100,365.
During this time, Thapa informed that 666 people were detained by the police. According to Thapa, out of those arrested, 530 people were released on a normal date, while 136 people have been brought under legal action.
Out of which 65 people are in organized crime, 27 people in organized crime against the state, 24 people in indecent behavior, 18 people in criminal nuisance and 2 people in criminal nuisance, said Thapa.
