In order to make journalism dignified and orderly, Press Council Nepal has prepared and implemented journalistic code of conduct in 8 different languages. On Friday, the code of conduct translated into 5 mother tongues was announced, while the code of conduct in 3 mother tongues has already been implemented.
Press & nbsp; President of Council Nepal Balkrishna Basnet, President of Language Commission Dr. Gopal Thakur and President of Rashtriya Samachar Samati Dharmendra Jha jointly released the translation of the new mother tongue.
Basnet, the president of the council, said that this campaign was carried out in order to make the code of conduct comprehensive and apply it across the country in addition to Nepali and English, and to attract the current social media. Initially, the code of conduct was translated and implemented in Maithili, Tharu and Nepali languages. Now 5 languages have been added namely Bhojpuri, Rai Vantawa, Tamang, Doteli, Limbu language. President Basnet has expressed his determination to reach out to the relevant communities and implement these codes of conduct.
Chairman of Language Commission Thakur mentioned that it is necessary to protect the mother tongue through journalism. He said that he is ready to cooperate between the Press Council and the Language Commission for the promotion of non-written languages. "The work of the council to translate the journalist code of conduct in the mother tongue is an adventure," he said.
Council President Basnet said that journalism will play an important role in promoting the mother tongue spoken in different parts of the country. He made it clear that the council worked on promoting the mother tongue as the closest and most understandable language for communication. 'Mother language media is the beauty of Nepali journalism and the glory of the state. Therefore, the council has been doing various creative works to promote it,' said President Basnet.
President of the National News Committee Jha opined that journalism in the mother tongue is necessary as there are still no communities that understand the Nepali language in many parts of the country. He said that there is no alternative to mother tongue journalism to inform the common people, and he said that if mother tongue and locality are ignored, the country's democracy will not survive.
