The promotion committee is still undecided even after a month has passed since the opening of applications for the appointment of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) in the Armed Police Force (APF).

After AIG Chandra Prakash (CP) Gautam retired due to 30 years of service, the promotion recommendation committee for AIG opened applications for competition on 14 Baisakh 2082 . The application submission date, which was opened with a deadline of one week, was till 21 Baisakh. However, three weeks later, the meeting of the promotion recommendation committee has not been held.

10 Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) who joined the service on different dates are competing for the vacant AIG. Kamal Giri, Ganesh Thadamgar, Shambhu Subedi and Kul Bahadur Nemwang, who joined Nepal Police in 2056 as inspectors and later transferred to armed forces, are among the candidates for AIG competition. He was promoted from SSP to DIG on 3rd January 2077.

Similarly, Kumar Neupane and Kalidas Dhoubji, who joined Nepal Police in 2052 as Technical Deputy Inspector (SE) and later transferred to armed forces, are also competing. Both became DIG on 22 June 2078 . Similarly, Laxman Singh and Pradeep Kumar Pal, who entered the service as technical officers from the police in 2054, are also in the AIG competition. Singh and Pal became DIG on 22 Chait 2078 .

Similarly, Suresh Shrestha and Anjani Kumar Pokharel of the first batch of armed police are also in the AIG competition. Shrestha and Pokharel, who entered the service from Armed Police Inspector in 2059, were promoted to DIG on February 4, 2079. Ten competitors have filled the form for AIG .

However, because the recommendation committee meeting was not held, the AIG could not be decided . It is mentioned in the Armed Police Regulations that AIG is recommended by a two-member promotion committee consisting of the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Inspector General of Police. However, since there is no recommendation committee, there has been an increase in external manipulation and power centers in promotion.

AIG will be promoted by the Council of Ministers after the promotion recommendation committee decides on the name . In Nepal Police, 11 DIGs and one AIG have been recommended a few days ago.
