Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba and Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takesi held a bilateral meeting in Tokyo today. Minister Rana, who is visiting Japan, and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo today.
Foreign Minister Rana, who left for Japan last Saturday to participate in the International Conference on Social Isolation of Senior Citizens, met with Foreign Minister Takeshi on Thursday. On the occasion of the
meeting, Nepal-Japan bilateral relations, mutual interests and various issues of common interest were discussed. During the meeting, Minister Rana expressed gratitude to the Japanese government and Japanese citizens on behalf of Nepal for the long-standing cooperation in the economic and social fields of Nepal, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
likewise Minister Rana said that after the year 2026, Nepal will become a developing nation from a least developed nation. She expressed her belief that Nepal will receive support from Japan, a friendly country that has been providing continuous support, while informing that the level is about to be upgraded.
The two ministers also discussed various aspects of the 70-year history of Nepal-Japan relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nepal and Japan, an Asian country that established diplomatic relations in 1956, are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year. On the same occasion, Minister Rana has invited Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi to visit Nepal on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year.
Requesting Foreign Minister Takeshi to encourage Japanese industrialists and businessmen to invest in Nepal, Minister Rana informed that necessary arrangements have been made by the government to provide security and assurance to foreign investment in Nepal, which has great potential in terms of investment returns.
