UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has claimed that the government of the current coalition will last till 2084. Addressing a program organized by UML Dang in Tulsipur on the occasion of the 41st memorial day of rioting communist leader Netralal Paudel Abhagi, he said that this alliance was formed out of necessity.
Pointing out that there are some political forces at stake that if the government collapses, chaos and discomfort can be created in the country, Pokharel clarified that this is not possible. "It is not possible to topple the government even if the Maoists are out of the government," he said. "This alliance will continue until the next election." It is a coalition of the country's needs.'
He expressed the view that any party leader or worker who made a mistake should be punished. Pointing to the Chairman of the Independent Party, Ravi Lamichhane, he expressed the opinion that someone should not be prosecuted on the basis of political bias, but on the basis of weakness. "The leaders and workers of any party who make a mistake should be punished," said Pokharel, "Criminal cases should not be politicized."
He also held the opinion that people's dissatisfaction should not be taken as a problem, but as an opportunity. "If we can take the dissatisfaction as an opportunity and turn it into a plan and commitment, the party can become popular among the people," he said. "Let us go among the people, listen to the people, learn from the people and move forward."
Mentioning the need to include people's complaints in the journey of prosperity, Pokharel said that it is time to move forward by making the party more organized and organised. Pokharel recalled that the late Netralal Paudel was the leader of the Dangali Communist Movement and his contribution was unforgettable.
