Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Devendra Dahal has said that he is preparing to modify the contract so that the government does not have any additional liability.
Minister Dahal said this while answering the questions raised by the MPs in the National Assembly meeting. He has mentioned that in case of those who could not complete the construction for a long time and those who are just taking time, the contract can be amended so that the government does not have any additional liability.
said that the regulations have also been changed for that and the deadline can be extended and any contract can be shorted out on the basis of convenience.
He said, 'In the days to come, if the contract can be amended so that the government is not liable, then the contract will be amended. We have also changed the rules. As there is a legal provision that any contract can be extended and any contract can be shorted out on the basis of ease which was the problem of extension, we are now preparing such contracts to reach a final decision so that there is no loss to the state. There are two or three things in it. Our state also has a weakness. We don't have money, we haven't been able to pay on time. There are problems with legal hassles, cutting trees, removing electric poles. We gave the contract, no one has his site cleared even for two years. After evaluating all these things, such contracts should be finalized. If there is a weakness of the builder, action should be taken accordingly. If there is a weakness of the employee, action should be taken accordingly. We are also looking for that.'
Minister Dahal mentioned that some projects are in a state of limbo for ten years and said that the government is trying to improve the weaknesses and move forward.
