The two rural municipalities of Sindhupalchok have instructed that Nepali Congress leader and member of the House of Representatives, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, who is accused of corruption, should not attend the program.

President of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Tapindra Prasad Timalsina and President of Lisankhu Pakhar Rural Municipality, Raju Lama issued separate statements and asked not to make the person accused of corruption the chief guest and not to participate in the program.

Commission on Abuse of Authority has already filed a case against Basnet in a special court for irregularities in the purchase of Teramox technology. Basnet's MP post elected from Sindhupalchok-2 is also suspended.

But Basnet was the chief guest on Monday and Tuesday after the opening of the Health Chowki Building in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-2 Thokarpa and the opening program of Nigale Nargaon Water Supply Scheme in Lisankhupakhar-2, Nigale, the rural municipalities gave such instructions.

The rural municipality has called upon the people who have been suspended from their posts to not participate in the program and not to participate in the event. In the statement, they say that the inauguration of a program by a person who has been suspended from the post of MP on charges of corruption is a serious violation of the constitution, existing laws and the autonomy of the local government.

The president of Sunkoshi, Timsina, was elected from UML, while the president of Lisankhu Pakhar, Lama, was elected from CPN-Maoist Center.
