The Water Resources Bill, 2081 has been passed by the House of Representatives. The Water Resources Bill was passed by the majority of the House of Representatives on Monday.

Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka's proposal to pass the Water Resources Bill was passed by a majority in the House of Representatives meeting. 

Energy Minister  Khadka said that they are going to create a law covering the issue of how to utilize, use and protect Nepal's water resources and what kind of legal system is required to fully utilize and protect them. He said that this bill should be passed by both houses and implemented.

'This bill has come because of the feeling that yesterday's laws should be amended and laws made up-to-date. What is the capacity of our water? It is mentioned in this bill where it should be protected and how the distribution of water can be done in a fair manner,' he said, 'this law has been done to ensure the rights of our three levels of government, to use the water that needs to be used and to make it more responsible in matters of profit and loss. We will arrange the topics that are not included in the bill and the topics that come as suggestions in the rules and procedures.' 

Minister Khadka mentioned that the bill covers the benefits and harms of water resources and said that it should be passed. MPs Dilendra Prasad Badu, Madhav Sapkota, Amresh Kumar Singh, Kiran Kumar Sah, Sunita Baral, Lakshmi Tiwari, Prem Suwal, Hitraj Pandey, Thakur Prasad Gayre and Lekhnath Dahal participated in the discussion with the report prepared by the parliamentary committee.
