Prime Minister and CPN (UML) President KP Sharma Oli has said that the current election system does not allow anyone to win the majority.
While inaugurating the seventh convention of the Oppressed Ethnic Liberation Society of Nepal in Kathmandu on Monday, he said that they are walking with the objective of Mission 084 and that they are aiming to get a single majority.
He also said that a single majority is possible for UML. He said that although the proportional system did not allow anyone to get a single majority, this system will continue after being chosen.
He instructed to start the necessary preparations to bring the majority within this system. He said that CPN (UML) is not like the Jamaat which was brought to Kudaun after putting a thousand rupees in a sack. He said that chaos has always been their enemy.
Prime Minister Oli said, 'We have taken the objective of Mission 084. We have aimed to get a single majority. It is not impossible. This is absolutely possible objective. We have such a system that cannot bring majority to anyone. But if we get more votes and more seats, it is possible to get a majority even in a system where no one can get a majority. A proportional system is typically the system of the Hong Parliament. It doesn't make a majority of anyone, usually. Not only that, but we have chosen this system, the system remains the same. Within this system, we have to bring the majority. This hardship is achievable, it is challenging, but this work is possible for CPN (UML). That is why we are preparing for mission 084, to bring a single majority of UML.'
Prime Minister Oli said that a national power like CPN (UML) should be made capable of taking any decision as a decision-making power of a single majority in terms of advancing the country on the path of good governance and justice.
