Police has stopped further work saying that the plotting in Kakrebari located in Suryavinayak Municipality-9 of Bhaktapur has destroyed the community forest. Chief District Officer (PRA) of Bhaktapur Gopal Aryal said that plotting is being done against the rules.
He said, "It seems that some public land has been destroyed." I have asked the police to immediately stop the work and investigate. Prazia Aryal said that the housing company did not receive approval from the Valley Development Authority and the municipality.
Police Complex Bhaktapur Superintendent of Police Madhav Budhathoki said that after the Chief District Officer's letter, we have stopped the plotting work after the on-site study. He said, 'Ten days ago, we went to the field and told them to stop the work.' Some locals said that during the plotting, Nik Vujicic land development project encroached on the adjacent community forest area.
A local, on condition of anonymity, said that more than 25 saplings of community forest have been encroached on, but no one is able to speak openly because of power. He said, "15/20 dozers are running day and night". There has been a job of hosing up to the waist of the bun. There have been small landslides in some places. If there is a big landslide in this rain, it will reach the settlement.
Chairman of Ward No. 9 Bhagwan Khatri said that a delegation team with signatures of 40-50 locals came to the ward office a few days ago regarding the issue of plotting. Khatri said that the locals said that when the plotting work is stopped, there is a danger of landslides from the place where the dozer is installed. He said, 'Even if it is said that the land of the community forest has been destroyed, we will not allow it to happen.'
Dilliraj Barali, Director of Nick Bhujikic Land Development Project, claimed that before starting the plotting work, they took approval from the ward, called a meeting of the locals twice and held a public hearing and an initial environmental assessment was done.
He said that although he started plotting in 400 ropani as proposed, he did not get permission from the municipality and the Valley Land Development Authority. Said, "A week ago, our work has been stopped after Sidio sent a letter to the police." But we are in the process of understanding why it was stopped. Barali, the operator of
, said that during the plotting work, the part towards the community forest was destroyed at one place. He said, more land than 5/7 plantations has been 'lost'. We put up a wall in that place when we can work . It is just a false accusation that government land is stolen or usurped.'
