Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has said that the importance of water is high for the transformation of agriculture and food systems. He said this at the 'Water for Agriculture-Food System Transformation' conference jointly organized by Water Resources and Irrigation Department, National Irrigation and Drainage Committee, International Water Management Organization and Engineering Studies Institute in Kathmandu.
Energy Minister Khadka said that since the importance of water is high for the transformation of agriculture and food system, the Nepal government has also given priority to it. He said that only 40 percent of the country's farmers have enough water. He said that we should create an environment where water is available to all the farmers. At the
conference, Irrigation Secretary Sarita Dawadi said that since agriculture is the basis of national development, there should be proper utilization of water for the development of this area. Govinda Prasad Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development He said there is a problem in groundwater recharge.
