Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has expressed his displeasure that the contractor has taken it lightly regarding the timely completion of the federal parliament building under construction at Singha Durbar.
Deputy Prime Minister Singh, while speaking at the meeting of the State Directors Principles, Policies and Responsibilities Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Committee held at Singhdarbar on Thursday to discuss the progress of the Federal Parliament building under construction, said that if the deadline is not met on time, the contractor will take it lightly.
Stating that 86 percent of the physical progress of the construction of the Parliament building, Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that the ministry is serious about making it 100 percent.
'Parliament building construction started, went to contract. Time and again the deadline was extended. 86 percent physical progress has been reported. What are the provisions given by the law to bring 86 to 100? What methods can be used to speed up the work,' he said. The contractor is taking it lightly, the deadline will be extended, what will they do and what they say. We will take suggestions from the committee on what can be done to make the contractor more responsible.' Singh also said that the
contractor is being discussed about extending the deadline for the last time. He said that if the contractor is not responsible, he will not hesitate to proceed according to the legal provisions.
