Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that a capable person will be appointed to the vacant post of Nepal Rashtra Bank Governor not on the basis of personal proximity but on the basis of merit.
Prime Minister Oli, while addressing the official launch program of Former Planners Forum Nepal, said, 'I have no intention of bringing anyone to Rashtra Bank. Bringing capable people based on meritocracy. If there are people who can work, the country will prosper. No need to say my man. I am the prime minister. But I am not the only one in the government. So I value meritocracy as much as possible.'
There is a dispute even among the ruling parties regarding the appointment of the governor. Earlier, the name of Gunakar Bhatt was recommended for the governorship, while recently there is talk of Vishwa Paudel. Congress promoted Paudel after the Bhatt issue.
Prime Minister Oli said that discussions have begun to make Rashtra Bank's permanent chief Nilam Dhungana the governor. Prime Minister's Office sources say.
Prime Minister Oli clarified that the chairman and members of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Investigation Commission of Disappeared Persons have been appointed based on the recommendations of the recommendation committee. He said that he did not have personal acquaintance and relationship with other officials except that he knew the chairman of a commission when he was the chief secretary.
He wished for the organization of former planners to exchange their thoughts and experiences and wished for the sustainability of the organization without clashing personalities.
