Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party (New Power) Baburam Bhattarai has said that the political leadership has failed to show their children the dream that they can live in the country.
He said that there is no point in being the prime minister and minister because he cannot show the future to the children and the youth in the country. He said that the thinking of the political leadership should make the citizens believe that something is happening in the country.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning of Bagmati Province on Tuesday focused on the discussion on the budget of federalism. Former Prime Minister Bhattarai said that the federal government system cannot be strengthened until the central mentality is removed from the politicians. He said that no matter how much we shout in this situation, federalism cannot be strengthened. He said that a change in the thinking of the leadership is necessary to strengthen the financial federalism and the distribution of resources should be correct up to the provincial and local levels.
He said that federalism should not be insulted by putting resources at the center and saying that the federal government system should be advanced in the interests of the castes and all classes of the state. He said that even though the workload at the provincial and local levels is high, it cannot be implemented by restricting resources.
Chairman of 'Federalism and Localization' and an expert on federalism, Khimlal Devakota said that to strengthen federalism, attention should be paid to allocation of central resources, staff management and creation of laws. He said that the trend of sending work but not sending resources to the state and local levels should end.
