The main opposition Maoist Center MP Janardhan Sharma has said that national debate and national consensus are necessary for the economic restructuring of Nepal.

Sharma has suggested the government to bring the budget for the next financial year only by restructuring the economic sector. He has also said that he will support if the current expenditure is reduced extensively in the budget.

In the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, participating in the discussion on the principles and priorities of the appropriation bill of the government for the next fiscal year, MP Sharma said that the upcoming budget is not only a source of income and expenditure, but it is expected to be presented as a purposeful document to uplift the people who have not been able to rise from the gap of inequality in the prosperity of the country.

'We don't have the resources to meet people's expectations when making the budget. Where to get that source? 65 percent of the budget goes to current expenses. Only 17 percent is capital expenditure, that too is not spent. Therefore, we will have our support to reduce that 65 to 35," he said. "Expenses in the political and administrative sectors should be reduced. You can make a budget only from that.'

Sharma said that since the revenue will be raised only around 10 billion, it will be a problem to manage the budget. He said that he should go for economic transformation. National debate, national consensus is necessary in this area for economic restructuring. Therefore, to achieve results from the allocated budget, be strict about structural reforms. There is a two-thirds government, if you do it, we will also agree,' he said.

Sharma said that the budget should not only be a statement of income and expenditure but should also be a purposeful document to bring the country's prosperity, social justice and the people who have not been able to rise from the gap of inequality.

He said that he had received information that the budget had not been missed under the heading of the earthquake, and demanded that funds be provided for the reconstruction of the earthquake. He has suggested that the budget should be brought in order to win the attention of the people as the people are disappointed due to the lack of improvement in education, health and employment.
