Narayankaji Shrestha, a member of the National Assembly and senior vice-president of the Maoists, has said that in order to end political instability in the country, a directly elected executive head should be arranged. He said that the country is pushing towards crisis day by day and asserted that the crisis cannot be stopped without disorganization including the structure.
While participating in the discussion on the principles and priorities of the appropriation bill in the National Assembly meeting on Wednesday, Shrestha said that political parties should be prepared to change the political system. Let us change the form of government. To end political instability, let's go to the system of directly elected executive head. Let's change this expensive and corrupt electoral system. Let's go for the proportional election system,' he said, 'let's focus on the law-making work of parliamentarians. Let's bring ministers from outside the government and make new changes. Let's move forward with a solid and effective program in the field of good governance.'
It was Shrestha's accusation that the current system of governance encourages brokers and corruption. Stating that there is no rule of law, he said that the current government has not been able to control corruption and punish the corrupt. MP Shrestha added, 'Currently, it is like encouraging brokers and corrupt people, it does not work like this. There is no rule of law, no control over corruption and no action against the corrupt. It should be completely changed.
He said that leaders of all political parties should think seriously to solve the crisis facing the country. He said that the issue of giving the country a leading exit was not among the principles and priorities of the appropriation bill. He said that no issue has been left out that would disrupt the order to take the country in the direction of prosperity. 'Not going in the direction of disruption, what is this principle and priority, it is a continuation of the status quo. This will not solve the current problem and what is needed is massive structural disruption. Without doing so, we cannot save the country and we cannot save it from being pushed into crisis. It is important to pay serious attention to this matter," he said.
Shrestha said that political interference should be stopped in educational institutions, courts, authorities, election commission and other bodies. He said that democracy can be strengthened only if that is done.
Shrestha said that in order to use the new possibilities that have appeared with the development of information technology, qualitative investment in education should be declared as the Education Decade.
