Auditor General's Report: Foreign Aid Far Below Estimates

The Auditor General's report has pointed out that only 54 percent of foreign aid was received in the fiscal year 2080/81 compared to the government's estimate.

According to the financial statement of the Federal Reserve Fund, foreign grants of 54 billion 94 crores and foreign loans of 2 trillion 12 billion 75 crores were estimated to be received in that financial year. But it is mentioned in the report that only about half of the foreign aid was received compared to the estimate.

According to the report of the Accounts General, 23.54 billion rupees in grants were received in that year, apart from technical assistance. This amount is only 46.64 percent of the estimated amount. Similarly, compared to the estimate mentioned in the budget statement, the foreign debt was only 55.96 percent.

In that year, the government received a foreign loan of 1 trillion 19 billion rupees. A total of Rs 1 trillion 42 billion 35 crore foreign aid was received through grants and loans. This is only 54.19 percent of the total foreign aid amount estimated by the government.
