Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithvisubba Gurung has said that they are ready to accept the criticism and refutation of the government.

Minister Gurung said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Cinepa movie shooting studio in Baluwatar on Tuesday. He warned against protesting just for the sake of protesting, urging criticism where it is broken.

According to Minister Gurung, the Media Council Bill has reached its final stage. He said that there is a need for social networks operating in Nepal to obey the laws of Nepal.

He said, 'You should criticize us. We are ready to accept that our points may be refuted. Talk about where it went wrong—where did it go wrong in the interest of the country, in the interest of the region, in the interest of the people? Talk about where it was not in the interest of democracy. We are willing to accept that. A tendency to protest for protest's sake is developing. We have faced big problems while managing it. The Media Council Bill has reached its final stage. There are social media platforms that earn so much money, who is using them, should he not obey the constitution of Nepal? Shouldn't the laws of Nepal be obeyed? If all of us—me, the Prime Minister, the President—must agree, why shouldn't he? It needs to be regulated.'

Minister Gurung has said that the Bill on the use, operation and regulation of social media has been presented to the Parliament and preparations are being made to pass it as soon as possible. He also mentioned that cyber crime control is the first priority of the ministry.
