With the beginning of the rainy season, the parliamentarians have drawn the attention of the government to the increased risk of floods and landslides in various parts of the country.
In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, the parliamentarians asked the government to make necessary preparations to prevent the recurrence of such incidents this year as the structures damaged by the floods and landslides in October last year have not yet been rebuilt.
Member of Parliament Suryaman Dong said that there is a delay in ascertaining the damage caused by last year's October landslide, relief and rehabilitation, reconstruction and maintenance of damaged infrastructure.
Similarly, he also raised the issue of vehicles not being able to operate smoothly on the BP highway. MP Lekhnath Dahal said that the BP highway damaged by last year's flood is still blocked at 14 places. Similarly, he accused the government of failing to pay attention to relief and rescue even though the floods caused damage in the Roshi River due to heavy rains in Banepa and Panauti areas this week.
Member of Parliament Amresh Kumar Singh drew the government's attention to the increasing situation at Tribhuvan International Airport. He said that the airport has become chaotic, the space is narrow and the insecurity of passengers and goods has increased.
MP Chandra Bahadur Biswakarma raised the issue of increasing road accidents in Parliament. Similarly, he demanded to investigate the incident of suicide of a prisoner in Jajarkot District Jail.
