Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has informed that the government is in the final preparations for the first edition of the 'Sagarmata Dialogue' organized by Nepal. He gave this information at the meeting of the Everest Dialogue Management Committee held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the chairmanship of Minister Rana.
Foreign Minister Rana said that since Nepal is going to hold such an international conference for the first time and has decided to organize it annually as a permanent diplomatic forum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working hard to develop this program as an essential and effective forum for Nepal.
Minister Rana informed that this event, which was organized in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18, focusing on climate change, mountains and the future of mankind, is an important platform for Nepal's presence at the international level, so the government is trying to make it a success. "This conference will be important to collectively advocate for the current situation where Nepal's mountains, which are the main source of water resources and environment, are melting and Nepal is suffering unimaginable damage from climate change, and to further raise the voice of climate justice that Nepal is raising on world platforms," she said.
She also said that the Everest Dialogue has been started as a global dialogue platform to discuss serious issues of regional and global importance related to climate change and this is the first edition of this year. Minister Rana also said that through this dialogue, Nepal has tried to bring together communities affected by climate change, scientists, policy makers, mountain climbers, world leaders and international organizations for discussion and commitment.
