UML MP Ishwar Bahadur Rizal, who led the government, said that former king Gyanendra Shah did not even make a statement when releasing a map that included Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura in Indian-controlled Darchula.
During the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, participating in the discussion on the policies and programs of the government for the next fiscal year, he suggested that the RPP should stop seeing Gyanendra Shah as a symbol of nationalism.
MP Rizal objected that even though former king Shah has been making statements repeatedly, he did not give even one statement when Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura were included in the map of Nepal. 'When Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura were included in our map, the entire nation stood up as one. The former king used to make statements on Aunsi and Purnima, but at that time his statement was not heard anywhere,' MP Rizal said, 'The Indian army was stationed in that part during the time of his father (King Mahendra Shah). When we claimed that it was ours, when we included it in our map, the statement of the former king who made a statement on Aunsi, Purnima did not come anywhere.'
A nation is also a geography and MP Rizal suggested to the former King Shah to respect that and asked the RPPA to leave the monarchist path and accept the change.
MP Rizal suggested that the fifth largest party in the parliament, RPPA, should leave the monarchist path. MP Rizal suggested the RPP to change the name of the party and accept the Federal Democratic Republic.
'In 2046, the Panchayat system was abolished and multi-party system came. I thank the RPP leaders at that time, they embraced the change. The name of the party was changed to Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, RPP is now in existence by accepting the change,' he suggested, 'now I suggest that the name of the party should be changed to Republican. Shouldn't we accept the change? What would have happened if they had named it Panchayat Party? He did not say Rashtriya Panchayat Party, he said Rashtriya Prajatantra Party. In the same way, the change should be accepted and written, they should say 'National Federal Democratic Republic Party'.
MP Rizal said that RPP would do well to accept change. He said that the policies and programs brought by the government will protect the achievement of political change. He said that the constitution should be amended and all political parties should come together for that.
